Homeschool students can enjoy a unique learning experience at Wing Haven's outdoor classroom and Children's Garden. Every month, a new and exciting topic allows kids to get hands-on and explore something new. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

Kids Hiking Club
Each month, children will spend the morning exploring the scenic trails of McDowell Nature Preserve. Participants will receive a Trail Passport and a Hike Club Card to track their adventures and earn exciting prizes as they go. This is a drop-off program. Advance registration is required.

Nature Homeschool - Animal Diversity
Learn about the different types of animals found in nature and explore what makes them special. Remember to bring a lunch as this is a drop-off program. Advance registration is required.

Homeschool Days on the Farm
Homeschoolers can enjoy a fun and educational field trip to the farm, with seasonal lessons and picking activities. In the spring, participants will learn how strawberries are harvested and pick a pound of fruit to take home! In the fall, they’ll discover how pumpkins grow and get to take home a small pumpkin. Lessons are offered every hour throughout the day. While general admission to the farm is free, visitors can enhance their experience by adding on special activities.
Age: 4+
Cost: 6$/child (ages 2+). Lesson activities can be purchased in the sales tent

STEAM: Homeschool Days
Take a field trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway for STEAM Homeschool Days, where students can get revved up about the exciting world of motorsports! Throughout the day, students will explore hands-on learning opportunities through interactive stations that focus on forces and motion, push and pull, physics, and engineering principles as they relate to the high-speed world of racing.
This is an exciting opportunity to dive into Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics at a real-world Speedway! Tickets include a speedway track experience on Charlotte's iconic NASCAR track!
Due to limited classroom space, students should be accompanied by only one parents/guardian. Feel free to drop off your students or stay and enjoy the fun.
*Participants will be required to complete a waiver and review track policies. Attendees may bring lunch or purchase a pizza lunch on site for $6 per person.

Carowinds Education Days
Take advantage of Education Days at Carowinds, where kids of all ages can have fun and learn the science behind their favorite rides! Students will engage in interactive stations covering Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics when they test their knowledge with hands-on activities. Experiment with circuits, discover the role of magnetism in roller coasters, explore the mechanics of simple machines, and more! This is the ultimate field trip you won't want to miss!
