Throughout the day, students will explore hands-on learning opportunities through interactive stations that focus on forces and motion, push and pull, physics, and engineering principles as they relate to the high-speed world of racing.

Explore exciting chemical reactions as polymers come to life through hands-on experiments. Kids will investigate how heat moves, transfers, and changes materials in fun, interactive ways.

Wednesday, May 6 - Speed into Summer! (1st-8th grade)
Get ready to launch, propel, and catapult as students explore motion and speed through high-energy, hands-on challenges. It’s a fast-paced way to kick summer into high gear!

Due to limited classroom space, students should be accompanied by only one parents/guardian. Feel free to drop off your students or stay and enjoy the fun.

*Participants will be required to complete a waiver and review track policies before participating in the speedway track experience. STEAM Program and lunch will be held indoors, however tennis shoes are required for the outdoor track experience.

Homeschool students can enjoy a unique learning experience at Wing Haven's outdoor classroom and Children's Garden. Every month, a new and exciting topic allows kids to get hands-on and explore something new. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

Students who enjoy exploring math beyond the classroom are invited to join the Charlotte Mathematics Club. Students will put their problem-solving skills to the test with a group of like-minded students. The club meets approximately once a month from September through May.

During each meeting, students can join their grade level or participate in the group that best matches their math background:

• Elementary Group: For students who love math but have not yet studied algebra (typically grades 3–5).

• Junior Group: For students who have completed a year of algebra and have some familiarity with geometry, number theory, and counting (typically grades 7–9).

• Senior Group: For motivated students currently taking Geometry or higher-level math courses (typically grades 8–12).

This club is a great opportunity for mathematically curious students to deepen their understanding, tackle interesting challenges, and connect with other students who enjoy math.

Mark your calendars for Homeschool Days at the Museum of the Waxhaws! Get ready for a full day of learning through exhibits, historic homestead, living history demonstrations, crafts, and more!

Please send an RSVP with the number of students & parents/chaperones you are expecting for the Homeschool Date via email at museumofthewaxhaws0@gmail.com.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the front desk upon arrival.

Closer to the date an email will be sent out with the planned living history demonstrations and the planned craft!

Stop by for Charitable Play sessions every Wednesday morning, where kids can play for a purpose! Superior Play offers an indoor playground where kids can climb, jump, slide, and swing, regardless of what the weather may bring. Visit any day of the week to play all day. Or visit Charitable Play Days, where a portion of proceeds will support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

*Each child must have a signed waiver to play. Purchase tickets at the door.

This program occurs on the third Thursday of each month (children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Advance registration is required and will open three weeks before each session.

Take advantage of Education Days at Carowinds, where kids of all ages can have fun and learn the science behind their favorite rides! Students will engage in interactive stations covering Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics when they test their knowledge with hands-on activities. Experiment with circuits, discover the role of magnetism in roller coasters, explore the mechanics of simple machines, and more! This is the ultimate field trip you won't want to miss!

The Education programming is self-paced. Visit STEAM Village to explore 5 different learning activities throughout the day.

The homeschool literature program provides youth with safe, educational, and fun experiences that strengthen reading skills, understanding of texts, and support positive learning opportunities through story telling. Occurs weekly on Tuesdays from March 3 - May 26, 2026.

This program is for homeschoolers that get excited by swimming, splashing, diving, and cannonballing activities! Our goal is to create team building and develop strong social interaction though the joys of the pool. This is not a swim lessons class, so please come prepared and confident to get wet and make new friends!

Classes held Tuesdays, March 3, 2026 - May 26, 2026 (No class April 7)

Homeschool students can enjoy a unique learning experience at Wing Haven's outdoor classroom and Children's Garden. Every month, a new and exciting topic allows kids to get hands-on and explore something new. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

No ticket is needed for adult chaperones. Younger siblings are permitted with accompanying adult. Register online through the Wing Haven Website.
