STEAM Homeschool Days: Aerodynamics Grades 1-5
Take a field trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway for STEAM Homeschool Days, where students can get revved up about the exciting world of motorsports! Throughout the day, students will explore hands-on learning opportunities through interactive stations that focus on forces and motion, push and pull, physics, and engineering principles as they relate to the high-speed world of racing.
The Fall STEAM Day, A Breath of Fresh Air! is designed for students in grades 1-5 and will focus on the exciting science behind aerodynamics! Students will discover how the forces of lift, drag, and gravity work together through hands-on activities.
Due to limited classroom space, students should be accompanied by only one parents/guardian. Feel free to drop off your students or stay and enjoy the fun.
*Participants will be required to complete a waiver and review track policies before participating in the speedway track experience. STEAM Program and lunch will be held indoors, however tennis shoes are required for the outdoor track experience.

Join the North County Regional Children's staff as we explore educational topics and literacies designed for homeschool students. This program will be held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from September to May.
Participants will be expected to use school supplies such as scissors, glue sticks, and tape during the program. This session we will be celebrating Welcoming Month!

Charlotte Math Club
Students who enjoy exploring math beyond the classroom are invited to join the Charlotte Mathematics Club. Students will put their problem-solving skills to the test with a group of like-minded students. The club meets approximately once a month from September through May.
During each meeting, students can join their grade level or participate in the group that best matches their math background:
Elementary Group: For students who love math but have not yet studied algebra (typically grades 3–5).
Junior Group: For students who have completed a year of algebra and have some familiarity with geometry, number theory, and counting (typically grades 7–9).
Senior Group: For motivated students currently taking Geometry or higher-level math courses (typically grades 8–12).
This club is a great opportunity for mathematically curious students to deepen their understanding, tackle interesting challenges, and connect with other students who enjoy math.

Learn about the processes that shape our planet and life on it in this hands-on series designed for your homeschool students.

American Revolution: Augmented Experience Charlotte Museum of History
Experience the American Revolution through cutting-edge augmented reality technology in the American Revolution: Augmented Experience Exhibition. Using a HistoPad tablet (provided by the Museum as part of admission) and grade-level Explorer’s Log, students investigate Revolutionary era people, places, and events while interacting with immersive digital content, authentic artifacts, and hands-on challenges. This limited time exhibit focuses on Revolutionary Era America with particular emphasis on the war in the southern states. The Museum has four galleries with permanent and temporary exhibits about more than 400 years of Charlotte history. This is a self-guided tour allowing you to take as much time in any particular area of interest as you would like. Average visit time as 2-3 hours. Most appropriate for 3rd graders and up although all ages are welcome.
In addition, visitors can walk the grounds and explore the springhouse, kitchen and kitchen garden and the Siloam School (1920s era one room schoolhouse) included with regular admission. Entry to the 1774 Alexander Rock House (oldest original structure still standing in the region) is available as an optional upgrade guided tour of the house and is the only way to enter the house. House is not handicap accessible.
Hands-on period craft is an optional upgrade–and at just $2.25 is less expensive than just about anything you’d find in the Museum’s gift shop!
Choose between two options:
Craft A: Quill and Ink: Students step into the role of an 18th-century writer as they practice writing with a traditional quill and ink using historic handwriting examples. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Craft B: Tri-Corn Hat: Students create and decorate their own tricorn-style hat while learning about this recognizable style of the Revolutionary era and the people who wore it in the Carolina Backcountry. Recommended for ages 5-7.
Arrive between 9 and 9:45 (HistoPad instruction will take place at 9:15, 9:30 and 9:45. Please plan to arrive for check-in at least 15 minutes before an orientation session. You’re welcome to bring a lunch and tailgate or use their picnic area. Free parking on site.
Tickets are transferable to others for the same day and time but are non-refundable. This is a rain or shine field trip.

Are you ready to test your Paleolithic “hunting” skills? This exciting event blends science, technology, engineering, art, and math with the thrill of motorsports — a perfect way to ignite curiosity and make learning unforgettable!

Students who enjoy exploring math beyond the classroom are invited to join the Charlotte Mathematics Club. Students will put their problem-solving skills to the test with a group of like-minded students. The club meets approximately once a month from September through May.
During each meeting, students can join their grade level or participate in the group that best matches their math background:
Elementary Group: For students who love math but have not yet studied algebra (typically grades 3–5).
Junior Group: For students who have completed a year of algebra and have some familiarity with geometry, number theory, and counting (typically grades 7–9).
Senior Group: For motivated students currently taking Geometry or higher-level math courses (typically grades 8–12).
This club is a great opportunity for mathematically curious students to deepen their understanding, tackle interesting challenges, and connect with other students who enjoy math.

Roll into fun at Homeschool Skate Days at Kate’s Skate! Join fellow homeschool families on the first Friday of each month (September 2026–May 2027) at both the Indian Trail and Gastonia locations. Stroll & Roll to Disney Hits
Visit Kate Skate’s Stroll & Roll every Friday for a fun, family-friendly event. A popular event among Charlotte homeschoolers, kids are welcome to skate, scoot, and roll in a safe, playful environment jammingto your favorite Disney tunes all morning long.
Bring your wheels of choice: roller skates, roller blades, scooters, small trikes, and even strollers are permitted on the floor.
Listed as “Toddler Times” on the Kate Skate website, but open to families. Admission includes access to the jungle gym for younger children who meet the height requirement.

Homeschool Discovery Day at the Zoo: Super Senses
This year, Community Homeschool Discovery Days are all about Animal Superpowers! Mark your calendar for a day trip to explore a different kind of animal superpower each day! Stop by for Charitable Play sessions every Wednesday morning, where kids can play for a purpose! Superior Play offers an indoor playground where kids can climb, jump, slide, and swing, regardless of what the weather may bring. Visit any day of the week to play all day. Carolina Raptor Center Homeschool Days
Soar into a day of discovery at the Carolina Raptor Center just for homeschoolers!
