On Christmas Eve, the child Clara receives a beautifully carved Nutcracker as a gift from her godfather. During the night she returns to the parlor to check on her treasure and falls asleep with the nutcracker in her arms. As the clock strikes midnight, she dreams that the Nutcracker transforms into a prince and fights an invading army of mice! The Mouse King is defeated when Clara throws a slipper, hitting him on the head. Clara and the handsome prince then travel to the Land of Sweets ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy. Clara awakens from her dream, once again in the parlor by her own Christmas tree, holding her nutcracker.
Join NCHE at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, 130 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, for this year’s student performance: Wednesday, December 17. The performance begins promptly at 10:30 a.m.–so we’ll need to be in our seats by 10. Our seat hold for the majority of our tickets is in the Orchestra and the Grand Tier. (Blumenthal seating chart)
ALL student performance tickets are $17.75 (no early bird pricing this year.) Tickets will be available while supply lasts. Tickets are transferable to others for the same day’s performance but are non-refundable. NOTE 1: Due to fire codes, every person (even lap babies) must have a purchased ticket so the theater is always able to tell the first responders how many to account for in an emergency situation.
