Homeschool Explorers Fall 2025
Each week, explorers will dive into a new topic by getting creative, conducting experiments, and participating in fun-filled activities. From science and nature to hobbies and adventures, there’s always something new to discover!
Drop in for a single session or register for more. Program runs from September 2nd - November 18th (no class Nov 11). Advance registration is required, so be sure to plan ahead.

Public Lands Day - Hike and Craft
Celebrate Public Lands Day a little early with a family-friendly 1-mile hike! After exploring the trails, head back to the nature center to create your own outdoor-inspired artwork using watercolors or collage. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please register both adults and children in advance. Space is limited, so sign up soon!

DIY Pet Rocks in the Park!
Join Myers Park Library for a fun and creative DIY Pet Rocks craft at Freedom Park! Kids can design their own rock "pets" and maybe even make a new friend while they're at it. Supplies provided while they last.
This event will be located at Freedom Park near the main playground located by the train.
No registration required. Just show up ready to play, create, and connect!

Charitable Play Day
Stop by for Charitable Play sessions every Wednesday morning, where kids can play for a purpose! Superior Play offers an indoor playground where kids can climb, jump, slide, and swing, regardless of what the weather may bring. Visit any day of the week to play all day. Or visit Charitable Play Days, where a portion of proceeds will support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Homeschool Swim School
Make a splash this fall with beginner swim lessons designed just for homeschoolers! Kids ages 5–13 will enjoy fun games, learn water safety skills, and build confidence in the pool in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment!

School Age Homeschool Hangout: Loteria Day
Visit North County Regional Library for a variety of fun, educational, and hands-on activities designed just for homeschool students. This program meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, September through May.
Advance registration is required and opens three weeks before each event. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should be able to independently use basic school supplies like scissors, glue sticks, and tape during the program.

Homeschool Painting
Calling all artists! Each week, kids will receive a canvas, painting materials, and a creative prompt from the instructor to guide their artwork. Seating will be arranged so participants are grouped with peers of a similar age. Families can sign up for one class or multiple sessions held on Thursdays from September 4 - December 18, 2025.

Muddy Boots
Get ready to explore the wild side of nature with an off-trail adventure at Latta Nature Preserve! Kids ages 6–16 will hike off trail, build confidence, connect with new friends, and (yes!) get a little muddy along the way. It’s a great opportunity to unplug, move their bodies, and experience the outdoors in a whole new way.
Participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and bring a change of clothes and a water bottle.

Let’s celebrate Hispanic Heritage with a fun, hands-on activity!

Homeschool Day at Wise Acres Organic Farm
Spend the morning out at Wise Acres Organic Farm for a fun and educational day designed just for homeschool families! General admission includes a small pumpkin for each child age 3 and up, plus a full day of farm activities that are both enriching and exciting.

Homeschool students can enjoy a unique learning experience at Wing Haven's outdoor classroom and Children's Garden. Every month, a new and exciting topic allows kids to get hands-on and explore something new. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

ASC Culture Blocks Clayworks Pottery Workshop for Ages 5-12
Get creative with this pottery workshop sponsored by Culture Blocks! Participants will enjoy a hands-on experience working with clay. No prior experience needed.

STEAM Expo

Take a field trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway for STEAM Homeschool Days, where students can get revved up about the exciting world of motorsports! Calling all artists! Each week, kids will receive a canvas, painting materials, and a creative prompt from the instructor to guide their artwork. Visit the Homeschool Rally at ImaginOn, held on the third Tuesday of every month! Students ages 5–18 can take part in age-appropriate activities, all happening at the same time and place, making it easy and convenient for parents. Each month features new topics for every age group, so there’s always something exciting to explore. It’s a wonderful opportunity for homeschool students to learn, connect, and make friends.

Homeschool Rally, Jr. (Ages 5-9): Bubble-ology
Become a bubble scientist! Kids will mix and test different bubble solution formulas, create geometric bubble shapes, and make their very own bubble wand to take home! (Please note: Parent/caregiver participation is recommended for this age group. This program involves soapy materials that may get messy.
Preteen Homeschool Rally (Ages 9-12): Mixed Media Self Portraits
Create mixed-media self-portraits that reflect kids' identities, strengths, and creative uniqueness, all while exploring art techniques and positive affirmations!
Teen Homeschool Rally (Ages 12 to 18): Bee Houses!
The focus for the 2025-2026 school year is Sustainability and "Green Thinking!" For the September rally, teens will be talking about pollinators and making Bee Houses!

Kids of all ages can enjoy balance beams, trampolines, and more at Allstar Gymnastics’ Homeschool Open Gym—held every other Friday from September through May. Parents and guardians must stay with their children at all times. Advance registration is required, and tickets are available on the Allstar Gymnastics website. Walk-ins will not be permitted.

Muddy Boots
Get ready to explore the wild side of nature with an off-trail adventure at Latta Nature Preserve! Kids ages 6–16 will hike off trail, build confidence, connect with new friends, and (yes!) get a little muddy along the way. It’s a great opportunity to unplug, move their bodies, and experience the outdoors in a whole new way.
Participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and bring a change of clothes and a water bottle.

School Age Homeschool Hangout: Mystery STEAM Bags
Visit North County Regional Library for a variety of fun, educational, and hands-on activities designed just for homeschool students. This program meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, September through May.
Advance registration is required and opens three weeks before each event. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should be able to independently use basic school supplies like scissors, glue sticks, and tape during the program.

Target Sports - Axes & Archery
Get ready for two hours of outdoor fun and focus! Kids will learn the basics of archery and axe throwing through hands-on instruction and guided practice. Butterfly Project Homeschool Workshop
The Butterfly Project invites kids to learn about the Holocaust through a powerful blend of art, education, and remembrance.
